LONG LINE

REQUIREMENTS ON A/C OR HEAT PUMP INSTALLATIONS

We frequently receive requests regarding the requirements for line sets over 50 feet in length. We recommend finding alternative locations for the indoor and outdoor units that require 50 feet or less of connecting lines. If this isn’t possible, we are faced with a number of considerations to accomodate the “long line requirement” such as:

1. Additional oil & refrigerant may be needed.

2. Additional suction line traps may be required.

3. Crankcase heaters must be considered.

4. Accumulators may be required.

5. Solenoid valves may be required.

6. Start kits are required. 7. TXV and or orifices may need to be resized.

8. Suction and liquid line sizes may change.

Failure to calculate the requirements and add the correct components will result in system failure. We have “long line” calculation recommendations from which our customers can calculate the requirements and correctly install “long lines”.

“Long line calculation” sheets are available from your local R.E.Michel Branch, or Sales Representative.
