HIGH EFFICIENCY UPFLOW OIL FIRED FURNACES
The Williamson Centennial™ series furnaces are built to provide years of reli- able, high efficiency service, yet are conventional in design, requiring no special venting or installation procedures. A Beckett® AFG flame retention burner with quick disconnect wiring harness, heavy gauge steel heat exchanger and easy ac- cess HX cleanouts are combined to operate at A.F.U.E. ratings of 85%, with elec- tric motorized flue damper (standard A.F.U.E. without damper is 83.3% @.65 GPH). The CHB-105 and CHB-140 models can be fired at any of three firing rates, allowing them to be used in applications from 91,000 thru 119,000 BTUH.
Other standard features include 4-speed direct drive blower motor, insulated 20-gauge steel cabinet with powdercoat paint and quality Honeywell® controls throughout, including 40 volt transformer and fan relay for air conditioning. External filter rack is provided. Equiguard® Extended Service Agreements are available for Williamson Oil Furnaces.

FIRING RATE -VS- NOZZLE SIZE
Why doesn’t the BTU input on oil fired equipment equate to the normal BTUs for a gallon of oil ? Normally a gallon of oil produces 140,000 BTUs, but oil equipment may indicate the required nozzle size to produce 140,000 BTU’s is a .85-80 B, not a 1.00-80 B.
The difference is due to nozzle flow ratings at different pressures.
IE: a 1.00- 80 B nozzle does flow 1.00 GPH at 100 PSI inlet pressure to the nozzle and does produce 140.000 BTUs. However, if we increase the inlet pressure to 140 PSI the actual flow thru the nozzle increases to 1.20 GPH and the BTUs increase from 140,000 to 168,000 BTUs.
Why is this valuable information?
When reviewing oil equipment literature and the TERM “firing rate” is used, know that it may not be the same as the GPH rat- ing of the required nozzle. Do not automatically install a .85 GPH nozzle on equipment listing “firing rate” as .85 GPH. Current equipment doesn’t necessarily equate “firing rate” and “nozzle GPH”, as the newer equipment may be designed to operate at pres- sures above the standard rating pressure for nozzles of 100 PSI.
