GAS FIRED CONDENSING HYDRONIC BOILERS

The UB90 is a gas-fired direct vent hot water boiler with cast aluminum boiler sections. A revolutionary cast aluminum heat exchanger means better heat trans- fer and thermal storage than similarly sized cast iron boilers, which results in higher efficiency. The heating system water absorbs large amounts of heat from the cast aluminum heat exchanger, cooling the flue gases and causing condensa- tion. Sealed combustion, premix gas burner, and low flame temperature means drastically reduced CO and NOx emissions, which contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment.

The UB90, unlike normal residential atmospheric and induced draft units, takes its combustion air directly from the outdoors (sealed combustion) and does not compete with building occupants for fresh air. Sealed combustion (also known as “direct vent”) is the safest and best way to obtain plenty of clean combustion air. The induced draft fan draws in the outside combustion air, then takes the cooler flue gases from the boiler unit and provides a positive removal of the flue gases from the building through inexpensive and readily available PVC and CPVC pipes.

This boiler doesn’t require the use of mixing valves, by-pass piping, or injection pumping to work on radiant heat installations. The UB- 90 series vents using 2” CPVC (provided with the boiler) for the first 5 ft., and is then transitioned to standard 3” PVC thru termination. Intake air needs to have 3” PVC tubing run, reduced to 2” PVC connection at the boiler. Can be vented vertically, or sidewall connec- tions. UB-90 series is approved for installation on combustible floors. Boiler shipped complete with Taco Circulator, controls, Low water cut-off, T & P gauge, air vent and relief valve. Comfort Plus Extended Service Agreements are available for Utica Boilers.

CIRCULATOR PHYSICAL SIZE

Just because the circulator is a “lil-bitty” thing doesn’t mean it is insufficient to handle the requirements of a closed loop heating system.. A three story row home doesn’t necessarily require a big high head pump. The height of the building may be incorrectly linked to pumping head (expressed in feet) of a pump designed for an open system. The requirements of a circulator on a closed loop system are much less. A circulator is simply creating a pressure differential and the water in a closed loop system responds to that pressure differential.
