A modern, pressurized diaphragm type expansion tank for all hot water heating systems, the Extrol tank is of welded steel construc- tion; compact and neat in appearance.A rugged, flexible diaphragm of material specifically compounded for long life is the heart of the Extrol tank. This diaphragm separates the system water from the 12 lb. air charge, assuring a permanent air cushion. Because the diaphragm permits the tank to be pressurized, the Extrol tank can be physically smaller than conventional expansion tanks. The Extrol tank can be installed into a tee or other suitable tapping anywhere within the heating system. Ideally, it should be installed in conjunction with an air purger and vent to provide complete and continuous air elimination. Fill-Trol is an Extrol tank with built-in automatic fill valve to maintain minimum system pressure.

EXTROL® SYSTEM

The Extrol system is a modern replacement for conventional expansion tanks in new or replacement applications. The tank can be mounted in horizontal or vertical position at any point in the supply or return of the heating system where a 1/2” IPT tapping is available.

The complete system uses the Extrol tank in conjunction with an air purger and float type vent. This combination will completely eliminate air from the hydronic system without additional vents (except in monoflo systems where vents must be used on each run). This is a highly efficient method of providing air elimination and expansion handling in one compact device.

FILL-TROL® SYSTEM

The Fill-Trol tank is the same concept as the Extrol with the added feature of a built-in automatic fill valve to save time and trouble on new installations. The Fill-Trol and Extrol tanks are not interchangeable because of dif- ferent fittings on the tank, but the principle is identical.

The automatic fill valve is actuated by the diaphragm in the tank so that when pressure in the system falls below a preset level, make- up water is automatically added. The complete Fill-Trol system incorporates the Fill-Trol tank with fill valve, an air purger and float type air vent.
