OIL FIRED WATER HEATERS - REAR FLUE ON TANK ON PARTS
Specifically designed to produce fast recovery at maximum operating efficiency in heavy-demand applications such as larger homes, apartment buildings, hotels, schools, restaurants and laundries. Rear flue design makes these models ideal for new installations where restrictive ceiling height must be considered, or as a labor saving exact replacement for older, inefficient rear flue models. Available in 30, 50 or 70 gallon capacities with high efficiency flame retention burner & control packages. A ceramic fiber combustion chamber assures a hotter, more concentrated fire and is combined with baffled flue passages to extract the maximum amount of heat from the combustion process. Storage tank is constructed of heavy gauge steel and is glass lined for extended life, low maintenance and corrosion protection. Jacket is insulated with high density fiberglass insulation material to reduce standby loss of heat during off cycle. Other standard features include a magnesium anode in the tank for protection against corrosion, a factory installed quick access drain valve and durable enamel finish. Tank and burner/control package are ordered separately. If water heaters are installed in a commercial or industrial applica- tion then there is only a one year warranty on the tank. Equiguard® Extended Service Agreements are available for Aero Water Heaters.

NEW WATER HEATER RELIEF VALVES DISCHARGING
More and more housing developements are being constructed in areas where the local water utility is supplying these projects with high water main pressure. More and more local codes are requiring backflow prevention devices installed on water heater installa- tions.
This combination leads to regular discharge by the T & P relief valve on the water heaters. Testing indicates that for every degree rise in the temperature of the water in the tank, there is a corresponding 4 to 6 pound per square inch increase in pressure within the sealed system. This pressure can no longer flow back into the main due to the backflow preventer. IE: Water enters the tank at 60ºF and at 80 PSI. We heat the water an additional 60ºF to 120ºF. The corresponding pressure increase is 240 PSI. (60ºF x 4 PSI = 240 PSI) Original 80 PSI + 240 PSI = 320 PSI if the relief valve didn’t discharge. So... As installations are found with a new relief valve that continues to “pop-off”, apply a pressure gauge to the system and heat the system with out opening any faucets. Pressure testing may prove the pop off valve is doing exactly what it is supposed to do.
The R.E.Michel Company offers a pressure gauge for convenient testing. The pressure gauge will screw right onto the water heater drain valve, see Cat # 2K415
What to do... Recommend a high pressure reducing valve and a “Therm -X-Trol” water heater expansion tank. See the “Hydronics & Steam System” section of this catalog for high pressure reducing valves, and potable water expansion tanks.
