• Cosmetic: It looks like I’m listening but I’m not really! • 表⾯:我看上去在听,但是我并没有! • Conversational: I’m engaged in the conversation, talking, thinking • 会话:我参与会话,讲话,思考 • Active: I’m very focused on what you’re saying • 积极:我全神贯注地在听你说的内容
Where possible, we need to be actively listening to our students so we really understand what they say and mean, concentrating on both the verbal and non-verbal messages they are giving.
如果可以,我们要积极地倾听学员,以便我们确切地理解他们说的内容和意义,注意他们传达的语⾔和⾮语⾔信息。 Whatever you say, your students will typically: ⽆论你说什么,你的学员通常会: • Filter: Pick out more or less important bits for themselves • 过滤:或多或少选取对⾃⼰重要的信息 • Distort: Interpret things for themselves • 歪曲:⽤⾃⼰的⽅式来解读 • Delete: Remove any bits that they find unclear or too difficult • 删减:去除他们觉得不清楚或过于困难的内容
It is important to check understanding often. Never assume they understand. Open questioning gets the students to think and reply, rather than giving a yes or no response.
Often less is more – keep your messages simple and free of jargon, and back them up with demonstrations and practical examples. We will look more closely at questioning in the ‘Briefing and Debriefing’ section.
