To plan, organise, and execute a short day sail. 让学员具备计划、组织并执⾏⼀次短期⽇间航⾏的能⼒。
Taking students on a day sail (dinghy, multihull, or keelboat) can be a really enjoyable and fun way to consolidate the skills and techniques they have learnt. A day sail provides an exercise which takes them away from the sailing area they have been used to, making students think about other considerations and hazards, and also how they are utilising the skills they have learnt to go somewhere fun and exciting!
One day of a Day Sailing course should be spent undertaking a day passage, ensuring all students are involved in the pilotage. The Senior Instructor, or Instructor, is responsible for the safety of the whole group and should not hesitate to change or abandon the plan if weather or other circumstances dictate.
G12 RYA Advanced Sailing provides a comprehensive guide to delivering the Day Sailing course. If a student wants some additional learning, they can do the RYA Essential Navigation & Seamanship course.
