Pilotage is usually a visual exercise rather than sailing for long distances on a compass bearing. From a known position, with the aid of a chart and compass it should be possible to identify where to go next.
• Use laminated charts and a chinagraph pencil • 使⽤塑封的海图和油脂铅笔 • Create a passage plan on a separate sheet or RYA Wet Notes (easier to look at than a chart) • 另⽤⼀张纸或RYA防⽔笔记画出航⾏路线(⽐看海图更容易⼀些)
• Create an expedition sheet, including number of participants and other relevant information. Give a copy of the sheet to a contact ashore
• 建⽴⼀个探索⼈员列表,列出参与⼈数和其他相关信息。并给到岸上的联系⼈⼀份复印件。 • Consider informing the coastguard and/or harbour master • 考虑通知海警和/或港⼝主管 • Confirm position or alter course through known positions, e.g. buoys • 在通过已知的位置时进⾏确认或改变航线,例如,浮标
