The double-handed teaching method and progression for learning to sail can be successfully taught in keelboats with a few simple modifications. Land drills are inappropriate. As an alternative, boat controls for sessions such as tacking and gybing can be demonstrated while secured to a mooring if required.
The main differences from teaching in a dinghy are: 与⼩帆船教学的主要区别是:
• The Instructor will probably be teaching on board • 教练很可能⼤多数时候均在船上教学
• Students will take control if they are competent and the Instructor will sit to leeward and in front of students
• 如果学员能⼒⾜够的话,可由学员来操控,教练坐在下⻛侧,⽐学员更靠前的位置 • There are usually only Four Essentials (centreboard is excluded) • 五要素变四要素(不包含稳向板)
• Additional areas to be covered might include techniques for grounding recovery, use of engine and winches (if fitted), and adaptation to the man-overboard technique
• 附加部分可包含搁浅恢复、发动机和绞盘(如有安装)的使⽤,以及落⽔⼈员救助的改进步骤。
With up to four students on board there is less helming time per person, although the crewing tasks are more involved, so regularly move everyone around. 船上最多4名学员,虽然每个⼈的任务会更多⼀些,但是掌舵的时间会缩短,所以要时不时让学员调换操作位置。
Teaching the Five Essentials in Multihulls 多体船五要素教学
When teaching in multihulls the Five Essentials become the Four Essentials (usually no centreboards/ daggerboards), usually referred to as CAT, which stands for:
在使⽤多体船教授五要素时,通常没有稳向板/中插板的部分,所以只需教授四要素,通常简记为CAT,意思是: • C – Crew weight = Balance and Trim • C—船员重⼼ = 左右平衡和前后平衡 • This is where they sit • 指坐在船上的位置
