Coaching implies a shift towards helping students develop those techniques into skills. It might involve more observation, feedback, and questioning to check their understanding of the technique. However, while developing skills, people will often shift between being instructed and coached.

You can expect your students to follow stages when learning any new technique. The skills model below provides us with understanding of where students are in their learning cycle so we can shape our teaching and reviewing styles to match.
You will need to adapt to being both Instructor and Coach. The role chosen at any time will depend on a number of factors:
