The site is near Sète at Frontignan Plage, with direct access to a long sandy beach. It is a good base for exploring the vine-covered plain from Nîmes and Montpellier to Narbonne and Carcassonne, and of course these cities make excellent days out themselves, for all the family. On the coast modern tourist resorts offer sandy beaches.

Camping Les Tamaris, a family-run campsite, is quite open, due to its location and sandy base, and so has more sunny than shady pitches. Each pitch is a triangular portion of a hexagon, with central water and electric points, marked out by small trees. The three well maintained sanitary blocks contain WCs, hot showers and individual washing cubicles and can be busy during high season. Entertainment is organised in July and August. An extra charge is payable for pup tents.

EXTRA COMMENT The use of BBQs may be restricted in case of extreme weather conditions.

This large site is situated about 1 mile/1.6km south-west of Castellane. Bordering the camping area is the River Verdon and the

Gorges du Verdon starts near the site too. Water is never far away; as well as the adjacent river, there are lakes and streams throughout the campsite. Twice a week there are guided walks commencing from the site. Horseriding, watersports and fishing can be found nearby. The drive to the site is spectacular – but not for the faint-hearted!

This large, commercial site is well laid out, pitches are of a good size, marked out by hedges and offer both sun and shade. The site is happy to accept requests for pitches further away from rivers if required for families with small children. There are four toilet blocks containing a mixture of WCs and French toilets, which are all kept very clean. There are two swimming pools, one of which is heated, waterslides and a children’s pool. A children’s club is provided in high season, along with various evening entertainment.

EXTRA COMMENT Dogs in category 1 not permitted. Dogs in category 2 must be muzzled, and all dogs must be kept on a lead. Please see pages 10 & 11 for further details.
