Château du Deffay is situated at Pontchâteau, north east of La Baule, and provides members with an ideal base for exploring the area. The towns of Vannes and Nantes make interesting days out and the long sandy beaches at La Baule are also within easy reach. The walled town of Guérande and the charming village of Piriac sur Mer are not far away and worth a visit.
The site is situated in the grounds of the château and on the shore of a lake. Pitches are of average size, grassy, clearly marked out and terraced in part. Lakeside pitches are available but are not fenced. They are therefore not recommended for families with young children, who would be pitched away from the lake. An old barn has been converted to form the main sanitary block which is clean and well equipped. The main facilities and the château are on one side of a small lane and the pitches are on the other, so noise is kept to a minimum at this pleasantly rural site.
