Situated near Le Bugue to the north west of Sarlat, St Avit Loisirs is an excellent base for touring this beautiful area. Périgueux and

Bergerac are within range for a day trip as are Rouffignac with its grottoes, Les Eyzies and the caves of Lascaux. The fortifications of Monpazier, Belves, Beaumont and Domme are also well worth a visit.

This is a busy, well-run and well-maintained site with some excellent facilities, many open all season. Pitches are of a good size and marked out by hedges. Access may be hard for twin axles. The sanitary blocks are modern, clean and have individual washing cubicles. The restaurant serves regional cuisine. Evening entertainment is organised during the high season. There is also a children’s entertainer and daytime activities throughout the week. The ‘fun’ pool and ‘crazy river’ waterslide are further attractions for the younger members of the family. The indoor pool makes this site an ideal base whatever the weather.

EXTRA COMMENT Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. Dogs in categories 1 & 2 must be muzzled. Please see pages 10 & 11 for further details.

La Châtaigneraie is situated in the heart of the Dordogne between Sarlat, the capital of Périgord Noir and the medieval town of Souillac. The site is an ideal base for exploring the beautiful countryside in the area. There are many historic towns to visit, including Domme, Gourdon and Rocamadour. While you are in the area do sample the local fare including the paté, truffles and wines of Bergerac and Cahors.

This is a well-run site with grassy pitches that are clearly indicated and provide some shade. The modern sanitary blocks are well equipped and kept clean. Whilst the overall atmosphere is peaceful and can be very quiet in low season, the site does organise some entertainment in high season, including special crêpe evenings and group meals. There is a crazy golf course with local landmarks, large sports field and off road cycle circuit, along with plenty of activities for children of all ages in high season. A walk is also organised once a week in high season.

EXTRA COMMENT Access can be difficult for larger outfits. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
