The site is attractively laid out on a hillside close to Figline Valdarno and is ideal for combining a stay in the Tuscan hills with sightseeing in Florence, Sienna, Pisa and San Gimignano. The site regularly organises coach excursions, with a talk the evening before about the places to be visited. If you do not wish to join a group there is a daily return bus to Florence from the site or frequent trains from the station, which is only one mile away. Wine-tasting trips into the surrounding Chianti region are also arranged.

This is a large, lively, commercial site, with many high grade facilities for all the family, which becomes very busy in high season. The pitches (average size 80m2) are on terraces, some marked out by low hedges, with those near the top of the slope having a greater degree of shade. A new fitness spa has recently been added and there is a animation programme organised in high season, which includes aqua fit and dance. The site operates a smart card system for use on site in order to avoid carrying cash around.

EXTRA COMMENT Walking may be difficult for elderly and disabled people as the site is very hilly. Access to pitches may be difficult for larger outfits. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.

Camping le Marze is set in a shady pine forest with its own stretch of sandy beach (fee payable directly on site) across a road and along a path through the dunes. 5 miles/8km from Castiglione della Pescaia on the Tuscan coast, there are many places to visit, including the beautiful city of Siena, Porto Santo Stefano, and the island of Elba, which is reached by ferry from nearby Piombino.

This site is unusual – the perimeter, bar, supermarket and restaurant are circular, while the pitches are rectangular! Pitches (av. 80m2) are set in woodland, so some may be shaded and uneven and tight for larger outfits, especially in the high season when the site is extremely busy. There is restricted car access to pitches, and barbecues are only permitted in designated areas. The free standing pool is not suitable for disabled people or unsupervised children. On site entertainment includes evening shows and a children's entertainer. Excursions can be organised from the site reception.

EXTRA COMMENT Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. In spring there is sometimes yellow pollen from the trees, which could affect asthma sufferers.
