Donau-Lech Camping is a friendly family-run site near the town of Donauwörth and is ideally situated for exploring the famous Romantische Strasse (Romantic Road) and the numerous castles in the area. The imperial towns of Würzburg and Augsburg are nearby and Rothenburg, one of the oldest towns in this area, is well worth a visit. The Danube and Lech rivers are not far away, and give their names to the site. Riding, watersports and fishing are available nearby.
Donau-Lech Camping has clearly marked out grass pitches of about 90m2. Bread can be ordered from reception for delivery the next morning. The sanitary block is located near the reception and houses a sauna and other modern facilities. There is a lake on site where small boats can be taken out on it at own risk – there is no lifeguard. For the golf enthusiast there is an 18-hole golf course within walking distance and extensive information about what there is to do in the area is available from reception. This site is suitable for those seeking a neat, tidy, well- maintained site in a quieter location.
EXTRA COMMENT Reception closed from 13.00-15.00.

Campingpark Lackenhäuser is a member of the Knaus chain of sites and is located some 2,600ft above sea level near the town of Neureichenau, about a mile/1.6km from the Austrian border. The Czech Republic is also not far away. The Bavarian pine forest which adjoins the site actually stretches across into Austria and there is a lake within walking distance where fishing is possible. Apart from an indoor pool, there are facilities including therapy and massage rooms, sauna, solarium and beauty salon.
The site has pitches of a good size that are mostly marked out by hedges, with a few open-plan, and due to the terrain in the area, they are on a gentle slope. The heated sanitary blocks offer modern clean facilities. In winter there is access to numerous ski slopes and cross country skiing is popular. Ski equipment can be hired from the site. A tractor may be used to manoeuvre caravans onto the pitches during the winter months. There is entertainment on site in high season including cycling and walking tours, and craft activities for both adults and children.
EXTRA COMMENT The site barrier is closed between 13.00 and 15.00 and between 22.00 and 07.00.
