Choosing
We know that the right choice of site can make or break your holiday so we have taken great care in preparing this information for you. The perfect site varies for everyone, so it is worth taking a few extra moments to check carefully before booking that your chosen site is one that will suit your tastes. The following points should help with your decision, but if you have any queries, please ask our staff who will be happy to help.
STAR RATINGS The Club works with a wide range of sites to suit all tastes, from small, family-run two-star sites to large, busy, highly commercialised sites. The grading or star rating quoted is given by the authorities where the sites are situated and is not linked to The Club’s own sites or any other system in the UK. As we do not own or manage sites abroad we would never be totally happy making specific recommendations but every site in this brochure has been happily used by members in previous years. Please note, however, that different countries have different standards and regulations, and even amongst sites in the same category the facilities can vary greatly from one location to another.
All of the sites we work with may have other tour operators present.
SITE FACILITIES Outside of July and August many facilities may be closed due to fewer visitors on-site, weather conditions, etc, and this is normally reflected in the price. Opening dates for facilities are shown in each site entry but are intended as a guide and may be subject to external pressures beyond the sites’ control. If you require

particular facilities on specific sites, such as specific disabled facilities, please telephone us before booking and we will be happy to provide you with more information.
Many members like to take their holidays in low or shoulder seasons when they can enjoy good weather without the crowds. In high or mid season, facilities and entertainment are in full swing and pitch areas and sanitary facilities are under the most stress. There is often entertainment or activities in the evenings, which may go on until late on some nights. If a site has the “Action packed” icon you can be sure that during July and August it will be busy, with plenty going on and probably noisy!
All the sites we work with have either all or some WC type toilets. In the low season there may be fewer sanitary blocks open and these may be unisex. Toilet seats, toilet paper and sink plugs may not be provided on some sites. Many campsites are keen to be environmentally friendly.
Sites with green credentials are shown by use of this icon (see page 11).

PLANNING YOUR JOURNEY The separate map provided shows all the sites in our brochure with distances from a local town to each port shown on the reverse. Access to Via Michelin, to help you plan your journey in easy stages, is possible via our website
www.caravanclub.co.uk. As a general guide, we recommend not more than around 250 miles per day. It is better to arrive safely and not too tired to enjoy your holiday! Directions to all our sites in this brochure can be found in our Overseas Campsite Guide available via our website

SPECIAL REQUESTS When you have made your booking through The Caravan Club, details including your outfit size are sent through to each site. If you have a special request please advise us at the time of your booking, e.g. if you wish to be located close to another family. We cannot guarantee, however, that the request will be met by the site administration. For example, in Spain it is usually standard procedure to choose your pitch from those available on arrival, rather than have it allocated by the site administration.
Many sites will only accept up to 5 or 6 people on one pitch and pitch sizes vary from region to region, country to country. Members may find pitches in Italy particularly tight. Inevitably on all sites some pitches are better than others. If you are unhappy with your pitch, please take the matter up with the site administration on arrival. If the problem remains unresolved then contact The Club and we will do our best to resolve the situation. Please see Moving off Campsites on page 11.
Please call us on 01342 316 101 or visit

Remember, unlike many of the campsites we work with, The Club does not charge any booking fee if a ferry or Red Pennant insurance is also booked with your site.
