HOW TO BOOK

STEP 1 Booking early for your 2011 holiday is, as ever, the best way to secure not only great fares, but also space on the sites you want to visit at the time you want to go. Remember also that ferry fares are usually cheaper during the week than weekends/school holiday periods, which are always busier and more expensive.

STEP 2 Where are you going from/to? Choose your route carefully; the shortest sea crossing may not end up being the cheapest or easiest if it results in a much longer drive on either side of the channel. Directions to all of our overseas sites can be found online at www.caravanclub.co.uk in our Overseas Campsite Guide.

STEP 3 Decide what time of day is best for you to travel. Overnight ferry crossings are always popular and are often more expensive, plus a cabin is usually required, however, you can save a lot of driving this way. It is also worth remembering that afternoon sailings from the UK and morning sailings from the continent are often cheaper.

STEP 4 What would you like to book? Do you want just a ferry crossing or do you also want some or all of your site arrangements made in advance. You can often save money by advance booking your ferry and if you are travelling to a popular area such as the Vendée or the South of France with a family, then it is strongly recommended that you

pre-book your site in order to secure your pitch. You then have the advantage of knowing your costs (and paying them) before you set off and our advance purchase of Euros means that you don’t have to worry about the effect of exchange rates for this major part of your holiday expenditure. If you are travelling outside of the July and August peak, then why not consider our Camping Cheque package which can give you significant savings when compared against the purchase of a normal ferry ticket and sites separately. See page 12 for more information or visit our website www.caravanclub.co.uk.

STEP 5 Now for booking – our telephone lines are always at their busiest during the period November – February when the best discounts on retail fares are available, and our overseas sites bookings are open. So if you have access to the Internet why not go through The Club’s website at www.caravanclub.co.uk and make your booking that way or call our reservations team on 01342 316 101. Please ensure you have all the correct information to hand before calling. All telephone reservations will be treated as firm bookings and cancellation charges and our booking conditions will apply at that time. As soon as a booking confirmation is received, you MUST check the details carefully and call us within 7 days if there are any errors so that we may rectify them. Regrettably we cannot accept responsibility for such errors or omissions after this time.

POINTS TO REMEMBER ALWAYS have your membership number, details of your car and caravan (length, height etc) and details of those travelling, including dates of birth, to hand whichever way you make a booking – you will need them.

Remember that cancellation and/or amendment charges may apply to each part of your booking (including Red Pennant Insurance). These are clearly shown in our Terms and Conditions at the rear of this brochure.

If you are planning to take one of our Tours & Excursions shown in this brochure, remember that you may use any ferry route/ time/date according to your preference (unless otherwise stated) and a separate price quotation will be given.

AND FINALLY... All the major ferry operators are moving towards ticketless travel and only require a booking reference to issue a boarding card. As a result,we do not provide Ticket Vouchers for ferry reservations. Your ferry booking reference will appear on your confirmation invoice, and this should be retained by yourself to quote when checking-in for your crossing. REMEMBER – you will need this for both directions of travel so do not lose or surrender it. For convenience you may also like to make a note of this number on any documentation which you intend to take with you. Your site booking will also be shown on this same confirmation and some sites may ask you to produce it at check-in so it is advisable to take it with you.

Please call us on 01342 316 101 or visit www.caravanclub.co.uk
