Camping du Clair du Lune is situated in Maubeuge, right on the border between Belgium and France. Brussels, Mons and Namur in Belgium, and Lille and Valenciennes in France, are all within reach for shopping, restaurants, museums and other interesting sights. The zoo at Maubeuge is also well worth a visit.

This is a municipal site which is well laid out with good sized, flat pitches. There are a few static touring caravans and there is some road noise as the entrance to the site is located on a main road. The sanitary blocks include hot showers, washbasins and dishwashing facilities. Camping du Clair de Lune is well located for an overnight stop for members heading from any of the northern channel ports down into France or Luxembourg, or even for those who are en route to Germany, Switzerland or beyond. There are supermarkets a short drive away and a boulangerie close by, which make this site good for a short stay.

EXTRA COMMENT Some pitches are asymmetric, which may make pitching and access difficult.

This site is near the village of Eperlecques, just outside the ancient market town of St Omer and only a short drive from Calais. It is ideal for overnight stops but also provides a good base for visiting the Côte d’Opale and the historic Second World War sites in the area.

Château du Gandspette is set in 10 hectares of wooded countryside, offering many possibilities for walking and cycling. Many of the site’s facilities are located in the outhouses of the château, such as the bar and restaurant. The grassy pitches, with both sun and shade available, are all numbered and some are delimited by attractive hedges. There are two swimming pools and a children’s club is also organised in high season, with sports and outdoor games. Although there is not a shop on site, one can be found nearby (0.6 miles/1km).

EXTRA COMMENT Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
