SITE REQUESTS If we have no availability at a particular site(s) and you ask us to request additional space, this will be considered as a firm booking and normal cancellation and amendment charges will apply immediately. The deposit amount of £75 will be applicable at this time. However, if such a request is made within the period before travel when full payment would normally be required, then this will be charged at that time. We cannot undertake to check availability at sites other than as a firm booking.
No site or ferry bookings will be confirmed unless/until the above payment is received.
AMENDMENTS TO FERRY AND SITE BOOKINGS Now that most ferry operators apply a policy of flexible pricing, fares tend to rise as you get closer to the departure date. Consequently, if you amend a booking some time later than when the reservation was originally made, it is quite likely that the fare will have increased. Unfortunately we have no alternative but to pass this on together with any appropriate amendment fee.
Amendments to a site booking will incur an alteration fee of £10. If the amendment occurs within 30 days of arrival on site then site cancellation charges will also be applied to any unused nights. Please see below.
SITE AND FERRY CANCELLATIONS Many members decide not to book any sites in advance, particularly if they are not travelling in peak season. However, those of you who like to be ahead of the game and make advance bookings should remember that you are entering into a two way contract for the provision of a pitch and stipulated facilities with a commercial organisation. As such cancellation charges will apply, just as with any other type of holiday.
If an entire booking is cancelled then a non- refundable deposit of £75 (or £175 if certain Tours & Excursions and motor caravan holidays are booked) will be retained and site and ferry cancellation fees will be applied as per below. If only the site is cancelled, then cancellation charges apply on a sliding scale from 30 days before arrival:
SITE CANCELLATIONS Cancellation days before departure 16 - 30 8 - 15 1 - 7*
*This applies to ‘no shows’
Please note that the sliding scale does not apply after the first nights stay on site. Cancellation charges that apply on the first site night are applicable throughout the stay. If a member is already on site and wishes to cancel any or all of his time there then the cancellation charges will be 100%.
If only the ferry is cancelled then there will be an administration fee of £25 retained from the original £75 or £175 deposit. Some ferry operators also charge a cancellation fee whilst others do not. We will only pass on such charges if they are applied by the operator.
DOCUMENTATION Please remember to check all your documentation carefully. Unfortunately when dealing with many thousands of telephone calls mistakes and misunderstandings do occur, so if there is an error on your confirmation invoice please tell us within 7 days of receipt so that we can rectify it. Any delay beyond this may make it very difficult to fulfil your request and might incur additional charges.
Please make sure you keep the confirmation invoice – or e-mail – safe as this shows your ferry booking reference and will be required for the check in procedure at the port. If you have also made site reservations the sites may also wish to see it. It is also advisable to make a note of all the details somewhere else as well – just in case!

SITE STAR RATINGS The star ratings which are shown alongside many of the sites in this brochure are those allocated by the local region and tend only to reflect the facilities on offer rather than the quality of the site itself. Please bear this in mind when choosing your site and also that there can be significant differences between sites with the same star rating. Our own comments about each site are based primarily on the reports of our overseas sites inspectors, all of whom are members of The Caravan Club and experienced overseas caravanners.
FERRY REFUND VOUCHERS Some ferry operators may give travel vouchers for their services instead of cash refunds under certain circumstances if you are compelled to cancel a booking. Please note that we can no longer accept these vouchers and they may only be used when a booking is made direct with the ferry operator. This is a Caravan Club ruling which cannot be superceded by any ferry operator.
DEPOSITS AND PAYMENTS All of the ferry operators now have different cancellation charge policies with some now also charging non-refundable deposits or, indeed, the fares may be totally non-refundable. Obviously the deposit we take from you must be the minimum to cover any possible charges for which The Club may become liable, so this amount will largely depend on the ferry operator. If travel is within 56 days of booking full payment must be made at the time of booking. If final payment is not received by the due date shown on your confirmation / invoice then The Club will cancel the booking without further notification and the deposit will be forfeited.
