DAY 1 UK to São Miguel


Today we’ll fly to Ponta Delgada on beautiful São Miguel, the largest island of the Azores archipelago. On arrival we’ll transfer to our hotel.


This evening you’ll have an opportunity to get to know your travelling companions when we meet for a welcome drink.


DAY 2 Furnas


Today we’ll enjoy a full-day excursion to the region of Furnas. Our first stop is at a tea factory, a living museum, where machines from the 19th century still function. Later, we’ll stop to admire the beautiful views at Pico do Ferro Belvedere before continuing to Furnas Village, located in the crater of an extinct volcano. Lunch is included at a restaurant in the village, where you’ll have the opportunity to try cozido das furnas, a typical dish of the region.

This afternoon we’ll visit Terra Nostra Park, a splendid botanical garden which is home to thousands of species of plants and trees all set in the lush surroundings of the valley.


DAY 3 Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Today you are free to enjoy a day at leisure or join our optional whale- watching excursion (subject to weather conditions).


DAY 4 Ponta Delgada


This morning we’ll enjoy a walking tour of Ponta Delgada. We’ll pass through the city gates and visit the Church of São Sebastião, the city’s main place of worship. Next we’ll visit the local market and browse the many stalls selling flowers, fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, fish and local handicrafts. During our tour we’ll also have plenty of time to shop for souvenirs and explore the city’s narrow cobblestone streets.

DAY 5 Sete Cidades


This morning we’ll journey to the belvedere of Vista do Rei, for panoramic views of the twin lakes of Sete Cidades. Legend says that these sparkling emerald and sapphire lakes were formed from the tears of a princess and a shepherd who were forbidden from marrying.


Next we’ll stop at a Manor House and enjoy a delicious lunch of local dishes, before continuing on to a pineapple plantation to discover how this luscious fruit is grown, cultivated and harvested.


DAY 6 Nordeste


Today we’ll discover the natural beauty of Nordeste, the northeastern region of São Miguel. Our first stop will be at Santa Iria where we’ll admire sensational views of the coast. We’ll then see the watermills, waterfalls and lake of Ribeira dos Caldeirões Park before stopping for lunch at a restaurant. This afternoon we’ll call at tranquil viewpoints before discovering Povoacão, the village where the island’s first settlers landed.


DAY 7 Ponta Delgada


Today is free for you to explore Ponta Delgada either independently or in the company of your fellow travellers. This evening we’ll gather as a group and enjoy a farewell dinner and drink.


DAY 8 São Miguel to UK


After breakfast we’ll transfer to the airport for our flight back to the UK.
