DAY 6 Denali National Park Alaska offers some of the world’s most spectacular rail journeys and today we will board one of the famed luxury glass-domed rail cars at the Talkeetna Rail Depot for the next leg of our journey. This thrilling four-hour trip will take us to the tops of the trees as we sit high in our deluxe car and enjoy fabulous views of the wildlife and scenery. On a clear day, views of Denali, North America’s tallest peak, emerge across the river. Bears and beavers are among the wildlife to look out for as we head to our hotel at the entrance to Denali National Park. DENALI PARK VILLAGE, DENALI


DAY 7 Denali National Park Moose, Dall sheep, wolves, bears and caribou all make their home in Denali National Park and we will head out early in search of these fascinating creatures on our Tundra Wilderness Tour. We will travel deep into the national park on an unforgettable eight- hour narrated adventure for the best chance to see its inhabitants and soak


up its incredible scenery. With luck we may even get another view of Denali, meaning ‘The Great One’, whose peak is more than 6,100 metres above sea level. A boxed lunch is also included.

DAY 8 Fairbanks Alaska’s second largest city, Fairbanks, is where we’ll head today. The Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center is one of its main attractions and we’ll see it as part of our included tour. We’ll also take in historic Pioneer Park, the Alyeska Pipeline, a remarkable engineering feat, and North Pole, a town which keeps the Christmas spirit alive all year long. You could also join our optional excursion and strike it rich with a visit to Gold Dredge 8 where we will take a seat aboard a replica of the Tanana Valley Railroad and see how the dredge worked the gold fields before trying panning for ourselves. DAY 9 Fairbanks Known as the Golden Heart City for its friendliness and the discovery of gold, Fairbanks is yours to explore today. Or why not join our exciting optional excursion. We offer a flight to the Arctic Circle, where we’ll walk on the Arctic tundra before returning by bus along the rugged Dalton Highway. We’ll marvel at the majestic beauty of the


Yukon River and visit the Arctic Circle Trading Post in Joy en route back to our base.

DAY 10 Valdez Located on the north shore of Port Valdez, a deepwater fjord in Prince William Sound, Valdez has been blessed by nature. Our journey here today takes us on Alaska’s oldest highway, the Richardson. Lined by lush farms in the north, the highway quickly turns to some of North America’s largest mountains as you travel south.


This evening is at leisure, perhaps explore the harbour in the company of your travelling companions. BEST WESTERN VALDEZ, VALDEZ


DAY 11 Valdez/Prince William Sound Prince William Sound is prized for its stunning coastal scenery, tidewater glaciers and abundance of marine and coastal life. We will explore its calm waters on a cruise today. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife including sea lions, puffins, seals, eagles, otters, bears and even whales, as we sail past impressive hanging glaciers and forest-covered mountains. We will stop at the huge Columbia Glacier, which is rapidly retreating, so we may have the opportunity to watch it calving, when chunks of ice break off and crash into the water. DAY 12 Anchorage After an early breakfast we will board our coach to return to Anchorage.


Today’s drive will take us on the Glenn Highway, which is recognised as a National Scenic Byway. It runs alongside the Matanuska Susitna Valley and remarkable views of huge glaciers, towering mountains and river valleys will fill our day. WESTMARK HOTEL, ANCHORAGE


DAYS 13 & 14 Anchorage to UK Today you’ll transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK arriving on day 14.
