DAY 1 UK to Kolkata Fly to Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, arriving on Day 2.


DAY 2 Kolkata Get to know your travelling companions over dinner at the hotel this evening.


DAY 3 Kolkata After breakfast we’ll visit the Victoria Memorial, which is one of Kolkata’s most fascinating landmarks. We continue to St Paul’s Cathedral and visit Mother Teresa’s house.


DAY 4 MV Mahabaahu We’ll fly to Jorhat today, via Guwahati. Here, we’ll embark our ship for a 7-night cruise along the Brahmaputra

River. As we set sail we’ll gather on the open deck to watch the sun set and look out for Gangetic dolphins.


DAY 5 Sibsagar & Assam tea estate After visiting Sibsagar, the capital of the Ahom Kingdom from 1699 to 1788, we’ll head to a tea estate, where we’ll enjoy a traditional Assamese lunch and a cup of tea with a local family.


DAY 6 Mishing village & Majuli Island You can choose to start the day with a yoga class before a talk on Majuli Island. Later, we’ll enjoy a performance by Satriya singers and dancers, and see the chanting Vaishnavite priests at Kamlabari Temple. After lunch on the ship, we sail to a Mishing village, where houses are built on raised platforms.


DAY 7 Brahmaputra river safari Early this morning we’ll transfer to smaller vessels and head off to discover thrilling wildlife on a river safari. This evening we enjoy a cooking demonstration followed by talk on tea, silk and jute in Assam.


DAY 8 Bishwanath Ghat We’ll moor at Bishwanath Ghat and step ashore to visit the sacred Shiva Dol Temple. This afternoon we’ll visit the Kaliabore Tea Estate.


DAY 9 Kaziranga National Park After an early start we’ll enjoy one of the highlights of our cruise, a visit to Kaziranga National Park. The reserve is home to 180 mammals, including the ‘big’four’ - the rare great single horned rhino, tiger, elephant and buffalo - and we’ll enjoy an exciting game drive here.


DAY 10 Peacock Island Our journey continues to an island community where Bangla-speaking farmers tend the land. We then sail to Peacock island, home to endangered golden langurs.


DAY 11 Delhi We’ll disembark the ship and fly to Delhi, where we stay overnight.


DAY 12 Delhi to UK After a short sightseeing tour of Delhi we’ll fly back to the UK.
