DAY 1 UK to Budapest


Depart on your flight to Budapest, transferring on arrival to neighbouring Slovakia, where you’ll stay for the next four nights in a charming château. An excellent climate and good soil conditions make Southern Slovakia the perfect place to grow vines, and you’ll start your holiday as you gather with your travelling companions to enjoy a welcome glass of sparkling wine before heading to the restaurant for dinner. Each evening your three-course dinner includes two glasses of wine per person, meaning you’ll try more of the country’s wines during your stay.


DAY 2 Budapest


After breakfast, join your Tour Manager and a Local Guide for a tour of

Hungary’s splendid capital Budapest. The River Danube runs right through its heart, dividing it into two parts – historical Buda and the more modern Pest – and we'll discover both. Admire the impressive neo-gothic architecture of the Parliament building before travelling over the Margaret Bridge to Margaret Island and into the Castle District. We'll continue to the Matthias Church, Fishermen’s Bastion and the Royal Palace before crossing the Danube to visit Heroes’ Square, passing the Opera House and St Stephen’s Basilica.


Our tour comes to an end in the centre of the city, where we'll board a restaurant boat moored on the river for an included lunch. Afterwards,

This short break has been specially created for wine-lovers, and includes tastings of Slovakia’s fi nest in the surroundings of the historic château which is your base for four nights. Other highlights include tours of two capital cities, Budapest and Bratislava, through which fl ows the famous River Danube.

DAY 3 Bratislava


Today we’ll discover the highlights of Slovakia’s capital city, Bratislava, on our included walking tour of the Old Town. We'll start at the elegant Opera House before moving on to the Main Square, where we’ll see the Town Hall and Maximilian Fountain. Continue to the Primate’s Palace, the former winter residence of the Hungarian archbishops, then stop to admire the well-preserved St Michael’s Gate, built around 1300. Stroll through the musicians’ quarter, where famous composers including Beethoven, Mozart and Liszt studied, lived or gave concerts, and visit St Martin’s Cathedral, the official coronation site of 11 kings of Hungary during the Turks’ occupation of Budapest.


We return to the hotel after time at leisure in the city to discover more at your own pace.


DAY 4 Château Belá vineyard experience We’ll spend today in the company of a wine expert as we explore our hotel’s vineyards and learn all about the wine-making process. Since 2001 Château Belá has specialised in the production of some of Slovakia’s finest Rieslings and Cabernet Sauvignons. It also produces straw wine, made from grapes that have been dried to concentrate the juice, and ice wine, made with grapes that have been frozen while still on the vine. We'll enjoy a buffet lunch of traditional Slovakian dishes in the hotel’s lovely wine gardens.


Later, we’ll head to the Château’s wine cellar for further tastings before dinner in the hotel’s restaurant.


DAY 5 Budapest to UK


After breakfast, we’ll transfer to the airport in Budapest for the flight back to the UK.

Château Belá, a beautiful Baroque hotel located in Southern Slovakia.
