DAY 1 UK to Bordeaux Fly to Bordeaux and transfer to the Domaine de Fompeyre, a charming hotel set in beautiful grounds. Just a 10-minute walk from lovely Bazas, the hotel offers spectacular views of the town and its UNESCO-listed cathedral. On arrival, get to know your fellow travellers over a glass of locally- produced white wine.


The hotel prides itself on its traditional cuisine, and you’ll have the chance to sample it for yourself when we sit down for a three-course dinner each evening, which is followed by tea and coffee.


DAY 2 Bazas Bazas is a pretty town with a UNESCO- listed cathedral at its heart – an impressive Gothic structure that dates back to the 13th century, dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. It’s also an important stop on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. We’ll soak

up the town’s laid-back atmosphere and admire its striking architecture on this morning’s guided walking tour. Bazas is also famed for its dark, tender beef – chef Rick Stein visited the town especially to sample the delicious meat.

DAY 3 Bordeaux Lying on the banks of the Garonne River, Bordeaux is a picturesque city. This morning we’ll enjoy a taste of this fantastic destination on a ‘gourmet’ tour. In the company of a Local Guide, we’ll set out to explore, with plenty of opportunities along the way to buy and sample regional delicacies.


During free time this afternoon why not discover the bric-a-brac shops around Rue Bouffard and Place Saint-Michel, take in the art galleries along Rue Notre Dame or perhaps visit Bordeaux’s impressive Botanical Garden.

DAY 4 Bazas Domaine de Fompeyre offers a host of fantastic facilities, including indoor and outdoor pools, a spa and a hot tub. You’ll have plenty of time to take advantage of these excellent facilities today, or you could choose to ride into town on one of the hotel’s bicycles.


Your hotel borders the prestigious wine region of Sauternes, famed for its sweet white wine, which is traditionally enjoyed with foie gras. Head to the region on today’s half-day optional excursion, and experience a tour of a vineyard, visiting the fermenting room before enjoying a tasting.


DAY 5 Saint-Emilion Saint-Emilion is a charming medieval village located on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela.


We will head here today for a full- day excursion, taking in the town’s churches and monasteries. Highlights include the 13th century King’s Castle, the largest underground monolithic church in Europe, and a collegiate church that was rebuilt on the ruins of a Roman cloister in the 15th century.


Saint-Emilion is also renowned for its wine production – in fact, it’s one of the main red wine areas in Bordeaux, so we’ll tour a wine cellar and have a tasting.


Back in the hotel’s grounds, we’ll enjoy more wine to toast an unforgettable holiday before we gather for our final dinner together.


DAY 6 Bordeaux to UK We fly back to the UK today.
