DAY 1 UK to Lisbon Today you’ll fly to Lisbon. On arrival, transfer to your hotel in the charming fishing town of Cascais, located on the western edge of the Lisbon coastline. This evening why not get to know your travelling companions over a drink before dinner.
DAY 2 Tomar In the company of your Tour Manager and a Local Guide, we’ll explore Tomar on today’s included excursion. This historic town, which stands on the banks of the Nabão River, is home to a 12th century Templar castle containing the impressive Convent of Christ. After a tour of the convent, there’s time to enjoy a stroll of Tomar’s narrow streets, which are lined by well-preserved 17th and 18th century buildings, or

DAY 3 Cascais During a day at leisure why not head into Cascais, to discover elegant shops, bars and restaurants, as well as its marina and 16th century church. The hotel is just a short walk from the beach, so you might choose to simply relax on the golden sands.
In the evening we offer an optional dinner and performance of traditional fado singing in Lisbon.
DAY 4 Lisbon Portugal’s capital is home to countless attractions, and we’ll discover many of them on today’s included tour with a
Cascais
Local Guide. We’ll start at the historic Belém quarter, with a photo stop at the Belém Tower, the starting point of many voyages of discovery in the 16th century. We’ll admire the Monument to the Discoveries, built to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the death of Prince Henry the Navigator, and see the UNESCO-listed Jerónimos Monastery. Located in its west wing is the Maritime Museum, which we’ll visit before heading to the Alfama District. Here we can stroll amongst its medieval alleys before ending our tour in downtown Baixa, where the city’s most important squares reside.
DAY 5 Cascais You can spend today enjoying the facilities at your hotel or exploring Cascais further. Alternatively, we offer an optional tour of the Palace of Mafra, a vast monument which includes a convent and a basilica. At one time there were 45,000 men working on the palace and our tour will take us into the splendid Baroque library and the extravagant rooms of the royal apartments. Before we return to the hotel we’ll enjoy a panoramic tour of the village of Ericeira.
DAY 6 Sintra The charming region of Sintra, surrounded by forest and dotted with villas and palaces, is the destination of our included excursion. We’ll head here in the company of a Local Guide and visit Sintra National Palace – the favourite summer residence of the royal family. Enjoy some free time in Sintra, where you can shop in the many handicraft stores or perhaps try some of the area’s local sweets such as queijadas and travesseiros. On our way back to Cascais, we pass through Cabo da Roca, the most westerly point of mainland Europe, and see the rugged surfing beaches of Guincho.
DAY 7 Cascais Enjoy a day relaxing in your resort. This evening, join your travelling companions for a farewell drink before dinner.
DAY 8 Lisbon to UK Today we’ll transfer to the airport for the return flight back to the UK.
