DAY 5 Springfield, Missouri Another Springfield is our destination today – this time it’s the location of the infamous shootout between Wild Bill Hickok and David Tutt, an event that allegedly gave rise to the Wild West era. DAYS 6 & 7 Oklahoma Day 6 sees us travel along the most historical section of Route 66, through ‘cowboy country’ and across the corner of Kansas. We stop at the cultural capital, Tulsa, en route to Oklahoma City. On day 7 we visit the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, which honours some of the most famous cowboys in history. We also take a tour of the impressive Oklahoma State Capitol building before having some free time to explore Oklahoma City.

DAY 8 Amarillo The huge state of Texas beckons today. Our journey takes us to Palo Duro
Canyon State Park before we continue through the top part of Texas and on to Amarillo. COUNTY INN & SUITES, AMARILLO
DAYS 9 & 10 Albuquerque & Santa Fe We spend day 9 on the road as we cross the border to New Mexico and continue to the historic city of Albuquerque. On day 10 you have the option to explore independently or join us on an optional excursion to Santa Fe, an affluent town with a heavy Spanish influence. HYATT PLACE, ALBUQUERQUE
DAY 11 Flagstaff Back on the road and we’re heading to Gallup and then into Arizona, visiting the intriguing Petrified Forest National Park en route. As we head further into the wilderness we will come across the mysterious Meteor Crater, created some 50,000 years ago by an asteroid. LA QUINTA INN & SUITES, FLAGSTAFF
DAY 12 Grand Canyon A slight detour from the Route takes us to the Grand Canyon. The Colorado River took seven million years to cut
the 140-mile wide gorge and create this gigantic canyon. After time to explore, we continue to the man-made wonder of Las Vegas. TROPICANA, LAS VEGAS
DAY 13 Las Vegas Las Vegas is an oasis of sparkling nightlife, glittering sidewalks and fantastical scenery.
Today is free for you to explore at leisure. As you’re so close to the Grand Canyon you might want to take the option of a flight over and into its depths. This evening we include a tour of Las Vegas. TROPICANA, LAS VEGAS
DAY 14 Los Angeles We’re back on the road today, with Los Angeles our destination. On arrival, there will be time for lunch followed by a sightseeing tour of the city. This evening there will be time to relax over a farewell drink with your fellow travellers. HILTON WOODLAND HILLS, LOS ANGELES
