feet, and inspired others including the Hassan Tower in Rabat and Seville’s Giralda. We’ll also see Islamic school the Ben Youssef Medersa, which is one of the city’s most beautiful buildings, and the sprawling Bahia Palace, which boasts 160 lavishly decorated rooms and tiled courtyards featuring relaxing water features.

There’s free time for lunch before our afternoon visit to Djemaa El Fna, Morocco’s most famous square. Here we’ll wander the labyrinth of vibrant souks where snake charmers and for- tune-tellers entertain the crowds and hundreds of stalls sell everything from traditional carpets and hand-crafted pottery to glistening jewellery and equally colourful spices. Try your hand at haggling for souvenirs or just take in the atmosphere, which is exotic and chaotic, exciting and intriguing.

Our included excursion today takes us into the Ourika Valley, nestling in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains and home to meandering rivers, towering palms, lush olive groves and magnificent waterfalls. During our tour we’ll walk amongst this picturesque landscape, which is inhabited by the indigenous Berbers, who enjoy a traditional lifestyle in villages that cling to the hillsides. Lunch is included in a restaurant before we head back to the hotel late-afternoon.

Why not enjoy the hotel’s facilities before dinner.

DAY 4 Marrakech

Today we’re going to learn all about Moroccan cuisine as we head to the UNESCO-listed medina.

We’ll shop for fresh ingredients in the souks before heading to a restaurant, where the chef will teach us how to use what we’ve bought. Moroccan cooking is a mixture of North African, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern styles, with dishes featuring plenty of herbs and spices. You might learn how to prepare couscous, or perhaps a tagine – a meat and vegetable stew cooked slowly in a terracotta pot. Whatever we make we will enjoy for lunch in the restaurant.

Spend the afternoon at leisure at the hotel, or perhaps you’ll choose to explore the local area with your travelling companions.

The highlight of this evening is our farewell meal at the Chez Ali Restaurant. Here, we not only enjoy traditional specialities but also a folklore show featuring music and dancing, acrobats and horsemen. This fun evening, which includes a drink, is a great way to end your holiday.

DAY 5 Marrakech to UK

Today we’ll transfer to the airport in Marrakech for the flight back to the UK.

Please note: This holiday includes walking in areas of rough ground, gradients and steps with little or no hand rails to offer assistance.
