Cuzco, the former Inca capital, features a fascinating combination of Inca and colonial architecture. We’ll discover this UNESCO-listed city on a tour, with the Coricancha Temple our first stop. Formerly an Incan palace and the main centre for the worship of the sun god Inti, the Church of Santo Domingo was built over its foundations. We’ll also visit the mighty ruins of the hilltop Sacsayhuaman Fortress and the archaeological sites of Qenko, Puca- Pucara, and Tambomachay. JOSE ANTONIO, CUZCO (4-STAR)


DAY 6 Machu Picchu A highlight of your holiday is sure to be today’s full-day guided visit to Machu Picchu. We’ll journey by train through the Sacred Valley of the Incas to Aguas Calientes. Here, we’ll transfer to a bus for the final part of our journey. This famous ‘lost city’ perched above a steep valley and swathed in dense jungle was rediscovered in 1911 and is a truly captivating sight. We’ll enjoy lunch before our return train journey. DAY 7 Puno Enjoy the views on today’s journey by road to Puno, on the banks of Lake Titicaca. We’ll visit the town of Andahuaylillas, whose baroque church has been dubbed the ‘Sistine Chapel of America’ due to its frescos, and the Raqchi ruins. Our final stop is La Raya, the highest point between Cuzco and Puno, for exceptional views. JOSE ANTONIO, PUNO (4-STAR)


DAY 8 La Paz Another overland journey takes us from Peru to Copacabana in neighbouring Bolivia. Lake Titicaca forms a natural border between the two countries. Located 12,500ft up in the Andes, it is the world’s highest navigable lake and


we’ll head here today after first visiting the 16th century shrine, the Basilica of our Lady of Copacabana.


We’ll board a hydrofoil for a cruise to Moon Island. We’ll then head to Sun Island, home to the Sacred Fountain. We enjoy lunch before heading to Huatajata. Here we’ll visit the Andean Roots Eco-Village and meet the Limachi family to learn how local people make totora reed fishing boats. We then head to La Paz, where we stay for two nights. DAY 9 La Paz The city of La Paz sits high above sea level, and on our tour we’ll see gems including the Indian Market and the fascinating Witch Doctor’s Market. We’ll also visit Moon Valley, a lunar landscape of canyons and spires, take a cable car ride from one end of the city to the other and see the notorious San Pedro Prison. DAY 10 Salta We head to Argentina today for a two- night stay in Salta. Our tour begins in 9 de Julio Square, at the point where the city was founded in 1582. Highlights include the cathedral, the Church and Museum of San Francisco and the San Bernardo Convent. SHERATON HOTEL, SALTA (5-STAR)


DAY 11 Cafayate Today’s included tour takes us to Cafayate, which produces excellent ‘Torrontes’ wines. We’ll stop at Postas de las Cabras for a tasting of local produce before continuing through the Quebrada del Rio Las Conchas ravine. On arrival in Cafayate we’ll enjoy a wine-tasting and lunch. DAY 12 Huacalera Today we’ll follow the Quebrada de Humahuaca, a narrow valley, to Jujuy.

DAY 13 Buenos Aires After breakfast we’ll visit the Salinas Grandes salt desert and Purmamarca for wonderful views of the Seven Colors Hill – stunning layered rocks. This afternoon we fly to Buenos Aires. SHERATON LIBERTADOR, BUENOS AIRES (5-STAR)


DAY 14 Buenos Aires A tour of Buenos Aires includes visits to Plaza de Mayo. This afternoon we offer an optional excursion to the Tigre Delta waterway, and this evening you could choose to join an optional tango show. SHERATON LIBERTADOR, BUENOS AIRES (5-STAR)


DAYS 15 & 16 Rio de Janeiro On day 15 we transfer to Brazil’s most famous city, Rio de Janeiro, beautifully situated beneath Sugar Loaf Mountain. We’ll stay here for two nights at a hotel on Copacabana Beach. On day 16 our tour will introduce you to one of Rio’s favelas – the shantytowns located in the outskirts of the city. DAYS 17 & 18 Rio to UK Enjoy the facilities at your hotel on day 17 before our evening flight. We arrive back in the UK on day 18.
