DAY 1 UK to Berlin Today you’ll fly to Berlin, a city with a dramatic past and a firm place in the history books. A welcome drink and dinner this evening will give you the chance to get to know your travelling companions.
DAY 2 Berlin tour It’s less than 40 years since Berlin was divided in two, and as you explore this modern city on today’s included half-day tour it is difficult to imagine the restrictions that were once imposed within the German capital.
Today, Berlin is a vibrant metropolis with a sophisticated social scene
boasting world-class restaurants, chic cocktail bars and elegant boulevards. Alexanderplatz is the central hub of the city and the place from where everything can be reached by tram, train, bus or foot.
The elegant structure of the Reichstag, Berlin’s parliament, watches over the green spaces that lie before it, while business-like guards sternly ensure the security of this important building. Berlin’s architecture is at times straight-laced but spectacular highlights such as the Reichstag, Berliner Dom (the cathedral), the swooping lines of the Berliner Philharmonie and the rising columns of the Brandenburg Gate serve to

demonstrate otherwise. In the company of a Local Guide, we’ll visit the eastern and western areas of the city, pausing to admire the many highlights.
Perhaps one of Berlin’s most famous locations is the site of Checkpoint Charlie – you can still see the original hut. Another must-see is the infamous Berlin Wall with its equally infamous graffiti – large expanses of the wall are still intact.
During time at leisure why not make full use of your included 72-hour Travelcard. Alternatively, you can appreciate the city’s architecture from a different perspective on our optional cruise on the River Spree, which passes through several districts, notably the Hackescher Markt where many fashionable restaurants are located under the arches of the railway.
DAY 3 Allied Museum For a greater insight into Berlin’s wartime history today we include a visit to the superb Allied Museum. A wealth of artefacts have been preserved here, including original checkpoint huts, airplanes and motor vehicles, uniforms and documents, as well as an interesting archive of photographs and films. A guided tour will ensure you get the most from your visit.
This evening you might choose to join an optional farewell dinner with your travelling companions in a local restaurant.
DAY 4 Berlin to UK Today we transfer to the airport for our flight back to the UK.
Please note: This holiday includes walking in areas of rough ground, gradients and steps with little or no hand rails to offer assistance.
We want you to make the most of your holiday, so there may be some travel on public transport in certain areas. You will always be accompanied by your Tour Manager on excursions and there won’t be an additional cost.
