We continue our exploration with a boat ride through the impressive Sumidero Canyon, which measures 1,000 meters at its highest point. Admire the beautiful rock formations and watch out for the abundant wildlife that lives on the shores of the Grijalva River, including crocodiles, spider monkeys and many different bird species.

In the Guatemalan highlands on the shores of Lake Atitlan is Panajachel. An early transfer will take us to La Mesilla, at the border with Guatemala, before continuing to this tranquil town, where we’ll stay overnight. VILLA SANTA CATARINA, PANAJACHEL (3-STAR)


DAY 7 Antigua Beautiful Lake Atitlan is famous for its changing colours, the magnificent view of three volcanoes – Toliman, Atitlan and San Pedro – and its traditional villages. We will take a boat to visit Santiago Atitlan, inhabited by the Maya- Tzutujil community.


Later, we will transfer to Antigua, the colonial capital of Guatemala and one of the most precious architectural jewels of the Americas. VILLA COLONIAL, ANTIGUA (4-STAR)


DAY 8 Pacaya Volcano Antigua is surrounded by mighty volcanoes. Today we will visit the most active, the Pacaya Volcano, which you can choose to ascend on foot or on horseback.


After this, we’ll head to Finca de Café la Azotea, a nearby coffee farm. Antigua’s coffee is considered top-class and our visit here will offer an insight into the production process and include a tasting of its exclusive ‘Aromatico’. Our excursion culminates with a visit to the


Casa K’ojom, a museum dedicated to Mayan music.

DAY 9 Flores


Antigua is a designated World Heritage Site, famous for its well- preserved Spanish Baroque-influenced architecture, and we will find out more about it on a morning tour. We will visit landmarks such as; the Santo Domingo Church, Plaza de Armas, the cathedral and the arch. The island of Flores is our final destination of the day and we will fly here later for a two-night stay. VILLA MAYA, FLORES (4-STAR)


DAY 10 Tikal UNESCO-listed Tikal is one of the most fascinating archaeological sites of the Americas and we will enjoy a guided tour here this morning. At its peak, the city was home to an estimated 100,000 people and was one of the most powerful Mayan kingdoms. The extensive ruins of temples, palaces and plazas lie among the tropical rainforests of northern Guatemala. The surrounding national park is full of wildlife and we will look out for toucans, howler monkeys and spider monkeys among other inhabitants. Lunch is included today, with the rest of the day at leisure. VILLA MAYA, FLORES (4-STAR)


DAY 11 San Ignacio Our adventures start this morning as we transfer to San Ignacio in Belize. We will learn more about the mysterious ancient Mayan civilisation on our exciting canoe trip to Barton Creek, a remote river cave used as a burial site for ceremonial purposes. We will spend more than an hour paddling along this ancient waterway inside the mountain and our Local Guide will lead


us between stalactites. Lunch is also included today. WINDY HILLS, SAN IGNACIO (3-STAR)


DAY 12 Cancun We leave Belize this morning and fly back to Cancun, one of Mexico’s top beach resorts. We’ll stay here for three nights.

DAY 13 Tulum Tulum is the only place where you can find beachfront Mayan ruins and we will head here this morning. Once an important seaport, it was one of the last cities to be built and inhabited by the Maya. We will enjoy a guided tour of the well-preserved cliff-top site and soak up magnificent views.


Back at our hotel in Cancun, the rest of the day is at leisure, so why not take the few steps to the white-sand beach and enjoy a lazy afternoon.

DAY 14 Cancun Today is free for you to spend as you wish. Perhaps enjoy a day on the beach or maybe head to nearby attractions which include an interactive aquarium and a handicrafts market.


This evening we’ll get together for a farewell dinner.

DAYS 15 & 16 Cancun to UK On day 15 we’ll transfer to the airport for the flight back to the UK, arriving on day 16.
