Finding the path towards customisation

At in-cosmetics Global 2019 in Paris, BRB will showcase the benefits of its latest performance silicone portfolio, coupled with various inspirational formulations based on novel customisation concepts.

BRB Colour Lock offers

A ‘Faraday shield’ for the skin

The freshwater algae Tetradesmus obliquus uses a strategy to protect itself against UV stress. Once exposed to light, it develops an envelope of carotenoids that acts like a Faraday shield and stops radiation getting to it. Likewise, the skin needs to

safeguard itself against various types of radiation such as UV, HEV and WiFi that can induce a damaging cascade effect. Initially, ROS are generated, followed by impairment of proteins, DNA and lipids on a cellular level that leads to subsequent weakening of the

skin barrier and eventually premature skin ageing. Radicare- Gold, from Rahn, reproduces the protective concept employed by Tetradesmus obliquus and can be applied to the skin to provide it with a natural ‘Faraday shield’ to screen it from radiation. Natural carotenoids have a dual effect on skin cells and arrier: as they activate PPARγ, they both defend skin cells against the effects of ROS and inhibit lipid peroxidation. Furthermore, Radicare-Gold replenishes the carotenoid depot of the skin barrier and provides a younger appearance for the skin.

The quest for individuality Consumers’ desire for

individuality and unique beauty rituals guides all efforts when it comes to fragrance creation. This is why Bell Flavors & Fragrances EMEA chose ‘it’s all about you!’ as its motto for this year’s in-cosmetics Global show. The Germany-based manufacturer of fragrances and botanical extracts will present new product concepts and formulations at its booth U58 in the Fragrance Zone. The broad scope of the concepts presents fragrances and extracts for conventional and natural cosmetics, for younger and more mature target groups and also for

different applications like shower gel and skin care. For fine fragrances, Bell will introduce the silicone-free version of its perfume cream ‘Scent2Last’, tapping into the trend of solid perfume.

The colourful topics from which the presented fragrances and botanicals are derived will inspire visitors just as much as the applications: ‘Glow & Glitter’ not only makes young girls’ skin shimmer and ‘Me Time’ is a theme that addresses everyone who is seeking for inner peace and wellbeing. Travel addicts will find olfactive inspirations in ‘The New France’ and the rich flora of the Amazon rainforest.

Good biofilms aided

Biofilms are complex habitats of microorganisms on human skin. Microbes can hide inside the protective matrix of biofilms, where they have a reduced vulnerability to antimicrobial agents. This fact challenges the cosmetic industry to identify a selective biofilm balancer, which specifically weakens biofilms of troublemaking bacteria, and supports biofilms of advantageous microbes. With Cranberry organic Herbasol Extract Glycerine SB, Lipoid Kosmetik, a manufacturer of botanical extracts, actives and natural phospholipid products for the cosmetic and personal care industry, presents a novel

cosmetic tool that targets

cutaneous biofilms. Cranberry April 2019

organic Herbasol Extract Glycerine SB has anti-adhesive and anti-biofilm forming activity, but is non-biocidal. It selectively represses biofilm formation of disadvantageous microorganisms, while promoting beneficial microorganisms in biofilms. Thereby, Cranberry organic Herbasol Extract Glycerine SB controls biofilms naturally. Cranberry organic Herbasol Extract Glycerine SB can be used as stand-alone active ingredient to control cutaneous biofilms, or complementary to antimicrobial agents.
