Influencing consumer mood
Givaudan Active Beauty has launched Sensityl, an active cosmetic ingredient that fuses nature and scientific expertise to offer consumers dual benefits on beauty and wellbeing. The new patent-pending
ingredient was developed in Givaudan’s Marine Biotechnology Centre of Excellence based in Brittany, France. Sensityl is the first ingredient of its kind to positively influence consumers’ mood after just one month of use, owing to its powerful soothing benefits.
Sensityl also contributes to the company’s sustainability approach ‘A Sense of Tomorrow’ as it innovates
volunteers using Sensityl expressed a real positive change in how they felt about their facial skin, moving from negative feelings to positive ones, due to the high soothing benefits versus placebo. Laurent Bourdeau, head of Active Beauty, said:

KahlWax has introduced 6427 Megasoft Complex, a special blend of natural waxes, oils, and emollients with a melting range of 52–58 °C. ISSN 2041-0441 April 2019 EDITOR’S COMMENT CBD goes from niche to mass-market
Ingredients do not just create the formulation, they create the story behind the formulation too. This has been true for many years but has only increased since the modern ‘naturals’ evolution. ‘Hero’ ingredients create the hook for the marketing departments who can then build the story around them, using their reputation for efficacy, exoticness, or freshness to give that story depth. The enormous surge in popularity of CBD beauty products has
taken hero ingredients to an entirely new level, enabling brands to link with cannabis’s long history of counter-culture and prohibition, not normally seen as ideal platforms for mass market products. This new trend has shown how powerful the perception of efficacy can be; breaking down cultural barriers and enabling ingredients such as this to move out of its historic niche. I look forward to seeing new ingredients tackling this trend at in- cosmetics Global this month. Make sure you stop by our stand V11 at the show in Paris and pick up your copy of Personal Care’s Little Book of Sun Care.

Megasoft Complex is enriched with a natural phytosterol mixture, which has many skin care benefits such as moisturising, and skin-soothing properties. 6427 deeply nourishes the skin while providing a smooth, soft layer of protection against dehydration without feeling greasy or heavy on the skin. This makes it an
ideal choice for skin care products where a pleasantly light skin-feel is desired, such as hand and face creams, lotions, and foundations. It is also very fitting for hair applications because it acts as a non-oily protective agent that adds an emollient feel to the hair, improving softness and combability.
