Prime CBD UK company, Prime CBD, has merged two big trends by announcing the launch of the UK’s first ever subscription service for cannabis oil. Prime CBD supplies a range of skin care products, including balms, face and bodywash, and moisturisers. Mark Fletcher, director of Prime CBD said: “We noticed a major pattern in purchasing amongst our loyal customers. They use our products on a day-to-day basis, and regularly repurchase on an almost monthly basis. We all know the annoyance that comes with forgetting to replace something you use often, which is why I want to make life easier for my customers with our brand- new CBD subscription service. As well as offering a great incentive with the loyalty discount, the subscription has no set-up fee and is commitment free. Meaning you can cancel at any time.”

The future for CBD In their recent webinar, Euromonitor estimated that the legal cannabis industry in the US alone could rise from US$12 bn in 2018 to US$166 bn by 2025. While stressing that estimates are changing almost by the hour, it is clear this is a market with enormous growth potential. As mentioned previously, one of the big drivers for growth in this market, along with more liberal legislation, will be the waning

stigma attached to CBD and cannabis products, particularly among the ‘boomer’ generation. While these products might initially be picked up by consumers in their 20s and 30s, word spreads quickly, and older generations who might already be aware of some of the medical benefits of cannabis will soon follow suit. Traditional stereotypes associated with cannabis will quickly evaporate as older consumers’ attitudes change. General attitudes are already changing. The coveted Oscars gift bags this year contained cannabis skin cream, and professional sportsmen (such as England rugby player, George Kruis) have unveiled their own CBD product ranges. Mark Fletcher, director of Prime CBD,

spoke to Personal Care about how his company sees the market developing: “Since opening the doors to Prime CBD back in 2015, we’ve experienced a huge influx of new clients, all of whom regularly repurchase their CBD products on almost a monthly basis. Which is what inspired us to implement a subscription service, so our clients can have their CBD products delivered straight to their door. “As we continue to wipe away the ‘stoner stigma’ attached to CBD products, we envisage the CBD industry to be the boom industry of 2019 – especially in the health and beauty worlds. As an ingredient,

we believe CBD has a great potential in the beauty industry as a topical cosmetic product due to its antifungal, anti- inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.”

Conclusion It is rare for such an explosion of products to occur focused on a single ingredient. But this is certainly not an ordinary ingredient; such is its position within culture across the world, added to its history of legal restrictions which are now disappearing at a significant rate. But the most important aspect for the personal care industry is the potential for cannabis to deliver a wide range of skin benefits. It will be very interesting to see how the market for CBD and cannabis-related evolves in the coming months and years.
