Lexus LC
We can’t overstate just how beautiful the Lexus LC coupe is in the metal. It’s a little bewildering that a company such as Lexus, which appears to consistently design its cars to look like origami creations, could create such elegant curves. The attention to detail is exceptional too and continues inside where only the fi nest materials
are used. Quirky features such as the asymmetric door cards make this a real stand-out car. It can cover ground with impressive pace, too. The 3.5-litre V6 hybrid is sublime to drive, delivering silky smooth performance through an equally remarkable ten-speed automatic transmission — an exceptional car all-round.

Lexus CT

Even though the Lexus CT is one of the few premium hatchbacks off ered with a hybrid powertrain, it has never quite captured the imagination of the market. More recent updates have failed to do enough in our opinion and while it may be economical to run, it lacks the kind of driving experience most buyers seek in this segment of the market. Lexus sacrifi ced comfort in the name of driving sportiness in the CT’s chassis, yet the hybrid system doesn’t back that up, so it feels stuck between two stools. In fairness, it is well made and if the company’s reputation for reliability rings true then it should provide years of trouble-free motoring.
Lexus NX
We wouldn’t argue that the styling of the Lexus NX is anything but an acquired taste, though we like how the Lexus NX stands out from so many other SUVs on the market. It doesn’t come with handling that’s as sharp as the equivalent Audi or BMW, but the quality of fi nish inside makes up for that to a certain extent – and is probably of more importance to more buyers. One of the few downsides to the cabin is its infotainment system, which is not only frustrating to use, but it seems quite dated in comparison to what many rivals now off er. That aside, the NX comes with front- or all-wheel drive, though if urban commuting is your thing, then the less expensive front-wheel-drive version should suffi ce.
