BMW 8 Series The stunning new BMW 8 Series range replaces the 6 Series Coupe, Convertible and Gran Coupe, the higher number representing a move up the automotive ladder of desirability in the process. Though the 8 Series is positioned as a ‘Grand Tourer’ in the traditional sense, its character can be dramatically altered by its detailed driving settings, so it can, depending on how it’s specifi ed, also do a good impression of an involving sports coupe. That’s especially the case for the range-topping M850i xDrive, producing 530hp and using advanced chassis systems to make all that performance accessible to any driver. Alas, the sensible choice is the 840d diesel version, but it’s hardly a slouch.
