OUR PICK OF THE RANGE C3 Aircross PureTech 110 automatic Flair
Citroën C3 Aircross With such an abundance of choice in the compact crossover segment, a car needs to visually stand out to be noticed. The Citroën C3 Aircross does just that, with its chunky styling and elevated driving position. Numerous colour packs and styling combinations are available for the exterior, and the cabin can be brightened up with light coloured
upholstery. It features some very comfortable seats, too. There’s substance to how it performs on the road, as well, with petrol engines that make it feel nippy around town and work well on the motorway. There is also a diesel option should you face longer journeys more regularly. Overall it handles well and outperforms much of the competition.

Citroën C1
OUR PICK OF THE RANGE Only one model now
There’s just one version of the Citroën C1 city car on the company’s Irish price list now, which is a clear indication that it’s not a popular model. In fairness, the city car class in general struggles in Ireland and there are plenty of alternatives to the little C1. Nonetheless, it can be incredibly useful in town, as it really is a tiny thing and very easy to park and drive. Simplicity is the key word, here. The petrol engine produces a slow-sounding 68hp, but it’s nippy enough for urban use, and yet the suspension of the C1 copes admirably with the occasional foray onto faster roads.

Citroën C3
The Citroën C3 stands out not just for its variety of bright colours, but also for its rugged styling, which is something we’re not used to seeing in the supermini segment. From the bisected headlights to the door-saving ‘Airbumps’ along the side, the C3 isn’t what you’d call bland. It’s just as appealing inside, with a decent touchscreen display and features such as a built-in dash cam that can be used to take scenic photos or save footage in the event of an accident. The on-road performance isn’t as polished as rivals like the Ford Fiesta, but the Citroën is comfortable and nimble, benefi tting most from the PureTech petrol engines. You will need to move up through the specifi cation grades to get the better versions, but we think it’s money well spent.
