Jaguar I-Pace

The I-Pace is Jaguar’s fi rst electric car, and it has deservedly gone on to scoop up awards all over the world since its launch. Its styling is a futuristic take on the SUV and it features adjustable air suspension and all-wheel drive. The space inside is quite good as the car’s large battery is located within the fl oor of the vehicle and there is a small 27-litre luggage space in the front in addition

of the 656 litres of cargo room in the rear. With 400hp and 696Nm, the I-Pace is a rapid car that handles exceptionally well considering its size and weight. When fully charged, the battery can deliver up to 470 kilometres of driving range, while fast charging at 100kW makes longer journeys less of a strain as the charging network improves along major motorway routes.

Jaguar XE

OUR PICK OF THE RANGE XE R-Dynamic SE 2.0D 180 RWD

An update to the Jaguar XE in 2019 saw the introduction of subtle exterior styling updates and bigger improvements to the interior. New features include the option of a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and a new centre console layout that drops the rotary gear selector of the previous version. It stands up well against its more popular rivals like the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Not only does it feature a quiet and refi ned interior, but the chassis and steering also rank high at the sharp end of the segment. At 410 litres, boot capacity isn’t as generous as some of the competition’s, but if you can look past that, the rest of the package is an appealing one.

Jaguar XF

German marques with models like the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class dominate the executive saloon segment, but the Jaguar XF is well able to give any of them a run for their money. Aside from the appeal of not being the obvious choice, the XF is underpinned with an excellent chassis making it enjoyable to drive and comfortable enough to dispatch long distances effi ciently. We reckon the Sportbrake estate makes it that bit more desirable and serves as a worthy alternative to an SUV. Its entry-point 163hp 2.0-litre diesel gets a manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive, but if you can jump up to the 180- or 240hp version then it becomes all the sweeter. For more of a high-performance theme, look up the Chequered Flag version and tick the 3.0-litre V6 diesel box.
