Audi A8 The Audi A8 is the company’s fl agship saloon, off ering its occupants the ultimate in luxury as they travel in near-silence and maximum comfort. For even more rear legroom Audi can sell you a long wheelbase version that adds 130mm between the front and rear wheels. The 3.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine churns out 286hp and 600Nm of torque and uses a 48- volt mild hybrid system, too. New for 2020 is the addition of a plug-in hybrid model featuring a 3.0-litre petrol V6 and an electric driving range of 46 kilometres. In a bid to ensure the A8 is future-proofed, Audi has designed it to be capable of Level 3 autonomy when such legislation comes to pass. That means the car can handle driving in certain conditions without the driver having to look at the road or touch the steering wheel for certain periods. Audi Q5


The Audi Q5, now well into its second generation, has been a massive sales success, as a model in its own right and within the premium SUV sector. It’s a strangely clinical creation, in that it’s not bursting with personality, but there’s very little you could fault it for. From the chiselled exterior to the spacious and high-quality cabin, the Q5 is the complete package that owners will no doubt love. Those that fancy a little more pace can choose the (pricey) SQ5 TDI variant, though the standard 2.0-litre diesel engine is perfectly good, especially if you spend a lot of time on the motorway. Most interesting of all, however, is the brand-new plug-in hybrid version, called the ’55 TFSI e’. This pairs a 2.0-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and a modestly sized lithium-ion battery pack. The result is a car that, theoretically at least, can travel 40 kilometres on electricity alone, with 367hp to play with and crucially, emissions of just 49g/km to avail of the full hybrid grant.


Audi Q7


Audi’s biggest SUV, the Q7, came in for a round of revisions in 2019 that brought it up to date with the company’s other large models. So, it now gets the two- touchscreen digital cabin setup inside, more safety equipment than ever and a modest visual makeover to beef up the appearance. As with most Audi cars, the Q7 looks far better in S line specifi cation and it can be spotted by the high-tech appearance of its LED lights. As ever, there are seven seats on board, and the rearmost ones aren’t completely useless, either. Use the Q7 as a fi ve-seat machine, however, and there’s cavernous space in the back seats and in the boot. Power comes exclusively from two diff erent versions of the same 3.0-litre TDI diesel engine, driving the quattro four-wheel-drive system through a smooth automatic gearbox as standard, though a plug-in hybrid model is in the pipeline. Rivals include the BMW X5 and Mercedes GLE.
