OUR PICK OF THE RANGE V90 D4 Automatic Inscription

RChoiceecommended Editor’s

Volvo V90 If obvious choices like the BMW 5 Series or Mercedes-Benz E-Class don’t quite do it for you then why not choose Volvo’s fl agship S90 saloon? Or better still, go for the estate version, which is called the V90. This chic and sleek Scandinavian estate is gorgeous regardless of the specifi cation grade you choose. Using many of the same styling cues as the big XC90 SUV, the V90 is one of those family cars

that you should have on your lottery win wish list. Its sumptuous interior includes premium quality materials and exceptionally comfortable seats that help make even the longest journeys seem eff ortless. The choice of front- wheel-drive diesel and petrol engines is accompanied by a low-emission plug-in hybrid model that is capable of excellent fuel economy, providing you keep it regularly charged that is.

OUR PICK OF THE RANGE S90 T8 R-Design

Volvo S90 Even though the Volvo S90 goes up against models like the BMW 5 Series, it’s large enough in size and comfort to start giving luxury cars like the BMW 7 Series a run for their money. The same engine options as the equally desirable V90 estate see the saloon get either petrol or diesel engines, both 2.0-litre in capacity and both with 190hp outputs. Where the S90 gets more interesting again is with its T8 version. This plug-in hybrid couples a 2.0-litre petrol engine with a powerful electric motor that can combine to deliver surprisingly high levels of performance, considering it has such low emissions. It can also cover short distances using only battery power, though its best left in its normal hybrid mode. Having been on sale since 2016, the S90 is expected to receive a mild refresh in 2020, though we don’t expect this to extend far beyond some subtle styling tweaks.
