BMW 2 Series Coupe/Convertible

Not to be confused with the BMW 2 Series Active and Gran Tourers, the 2 Series Coupe and Convertible stick to the traditional BMW layout of a front-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive. The presence of rear seats is useful, but they’re not the most generous for space, especially in the Convertible. Both the Coupe and Convertible come with a fair choice of petrol and diesel engine, though, if you’re looking for xDrive all-wheel drive, it’s only available in the Coupe. Another Coupe-only off ering is the particularly fast and exciting M2 Competition model, but you can choose between an automatic or manual gearbox across the range. For the occasional good day that allows for roof-down motoring, the petrol-powered Convertibles make for a sweeter soundtrack. Regardless of choice, this is an immensely fun and rewarding car to drive.

OUR PICK OF THE RANGE M2 Competition

OUR PICK OF THE RANGE 440i M Sport Gran Coupe

BMW 4 Series Coupe/Convertible/Gran Coupe If you like the delicate simplicity of this generation of the BMW 4 Series, you better hurry up to get your hands on one, as we’ve already seen a concept previewing the next iteration, which means it’s just around the corner. And though the interior of the 4 Series looks less high-tech than the latest of BMW’s products, it’s still well-equipped, well made and lovely to use. The 4 Series shares a lot with the previous BMW 3 Series, so it’s a predominantly rear-wheel-drive car (with xDrive all-wheel drive options) with plenty of petrol and diesel engines to pick from. Of course, before you decide which engine you’d like, you need to choose from the three body styles – the two-door Coupe, folding hardtop Convertible or our favourite, the fi ve-door Gran Coupe. If you’re quick, you may still fi nd one of the last of the incredibly fast BMW M4s before it’s discontinued.
