Ford Focus The current Ford Focus blends stylish design with an excellent chassis, resulting in a car that continues to be one of the best in the competitive hatchback segment. Available as either a fi ve- door hatchback or an estate, the Focus now features more passenger space than before, matched with a noticeable improvement in cabin quality. The car is more refi ned than ever with an on-road experience that is one of the best around. Buyers get a great choice of diff erent versions to choose from, starting with the Zetec and higher-grade Titanium models featuring 1.0-litre petrol and economical 1.5-litre diesel engines. There’s a sporty-looking ST-Line variant, but if you want the performance to match the look, then the Focus ST delivers with a choice of petrol or diesel engines. The snazzy Focus Vignale adds a touch of class to the interior while the Active versions take on a semi-crossover look with rugged body protection and a slightly raised ride height.

Ford Mondeo The popularity of saloons has been on the decline with the increase in SUV and crossovers, but the Ford Mondeo has remained one of the segment’s most successful models. Comfortable ride quality mixed with a roomy interior and large boot make for a good combination, and its design isn’t too shabby either when you go for the right spec. In an attempt to move upmarket, the Mondeo Vignale off ers nicer features such as posh chrome exterior trim, leather upholstery and even noise- cancelling technology to make for a more refi ned driving experience. For a sportier look, there is the ST-Line version, though, aside from nicer alloy wheels and some exterior styling tweaks, it doesn’t get any higher-performance engines. For a more economical in-town driving experience, the Mondeo is available with a hybrid powertrain in either a four-door saloon or estate guises.
