Ford Ranger
There are models of the Ford Ranger that come with steel wheels and plastic bumpers, but you can ignore those, as they’re purely for commercial use. Higher up the Ranger line-up, this becomes a civilian one-tonne pick-up truck – and it’s one of the better examples in the market. The passenger trims are XLT, Limited, Wildtrak and then Raptor, with a variety of turbodiesel engines. Base spec is a 170hp 2.0-litre unit, while the Limited and Wildtrack get access to the impressive 3.2-litre fi ve-cylinder engine with 200hp; all of these come with a six-speed manual as standard, with the option of a six-speed auto on certain versions. Top dog, though, is the Raptor. This is a wide- arched model born of an unusual type of motorsport and it has a 2.0-litre biturbo diesel engine with 210hp. It’s also the most expensive model of Ranger by far.

Ford Tourneo Connect
The Ford Tourneo Connect is an MPV derived from a commercial vehicle. The current, second generation of the Tourneo launched on 2013, but it was given a facelift and an updated interior in 2019. There are actually two body lengths to choose from, the regular fi ve-seat Tourneo Connect and the seven-seat Grand Tourneo Connect, but both having sliding rear side doors and their van DNA means they’re incredibly big and spacious inside. Brilliantly, Ford has made them drive more like cars than vans, so that helps with the feeling you’re in an MPV and not just a parcels vehicle with windows. Buyers of the base Style models have access to a 75hp 1.5-litre EcoBlue turbodiesel engine, but the rest of the range uses the same engine in a higher 100hp trim; there’s then an option to have the standard six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic for an additional fee.
