Travel with us to Italy as we explore the beautiful Amalfi Coast and the Bay of Naples. We visit the Roman ruins of Pompeii, the island of Capri and the Greek temples of Paestum. Discover a wealth of Roman artefacts at the National Museum in Naples and the atmospheric streets of the old quarter. Along the way we walk amongst the well-preserved ruins of Herculaneum and have the chance to climb to the crater rim of Mount Vesuvius.
ITINERARY
Day 1 Fly to Naples. Day 2 Naples Visit the National Museum – home to an intricate mosaic of Alexander the Great. Discover Naples old city in the afternoon. Day 3 Herculaneum Visit the well- preserved ruins of Herculaneum, buried under a sea of mud following Vesuvius’ eruption. Continue to the family-run hotel on the Sorrento Peninsula. Day 4 Capri Take the hydrofoil to Capri and enjoy a boat trip around the island. Optional visit to the Blue Grotto or Villa San Michele. Return to the Sorrento Peninsula. Day 5 Pompeii and Vesuvius Guided tour of the remains of Pompeii; a fascinating insight into the Roman city buried by ash in AD79. Optional walk along the crater of Vesuvius. Day 6 Paestum Drive along the Amalfi coastal to the Greek Temples of Paestum. Day 7 Amalfi A rewarding walk through the lemon groves to the historic town. The afternoon is free to relax: visit Positano by boat or explore the gardens of Ravello. Day 8 Drive to Naples and fly to the UK.

We can also trek through dense vegetation to the crater of Stromboli, one of the world’s most active volcanoes. Day 1 Fly to Catania and drive to Sant’ Alfio. Days 2/3 Mount Etna Explore the craters and lava fields of this active volcano. Optional climb to the summit of Europe’s largest volcano (3300m). Day 4 Stromboli Sail past the jagged cliffs of Panarea Island to the cone of Stromboli – one of the world’s most active volcanoes. Days 5/6 Lipari Travel to the pretty harbour town and enjoy a free day to unwind in thermal springs. Sail to the Island of Vulcano and trek to the ‘Gran Cratere’ for views across the Aeolian Islands. Return to Lipari and enjoy a warm mud bath. Day 7 Etna Optional climb to the summit of Rocca Novara (1340m) with views of Etna.
