ITINERARY
Days 1/2 Fly to La Paz. Day 3 Tiahuanaco Explore this extraordinary archaeological site, which is the centre of a pre-Incan empire. Days 4/5 Uyuni salt lakes Travel south by bus through Oruro to Jijirathen. See the salt flats of Uyuni with the peak of Volcan Tunupa in the distance. Day 6 Potosi Drive to the once wealthy colonial city of Potosi, through a remarkable silver, tin and zinc- rich desert landscape. Day 7 Cerro Rico Visit the Cerro Rico silver mine, which dates from the Conquistadors and admire the thermal lakes at Tarapaya. Day 8 Sucre Take the bus to Sucre, the official capital of Bolivia. Days 9/10 Drive to Tarabuco, famous for its magnificent textiles. Explore the Indian market then return to Sucre and fly to La Paz. Day 11 Amazon Rainforest Fly to the picturesque Amazonian town of Rurrenabeque. Days 12/14 Madidi National Park Travel the Amazon by motor-canoe to Madidi National Park. Disembark for a wildlife walk through the jungle. Days 15/16 Lake Titicaca Visit the world’s highest navigable lake. Spend a night in Puerto Perez before returning to the La Paz. Days 17/18 Fly to UK.
