We visit bustling Indian markets in Latacunga and Otavalo, tour the colonial capital Quito and explore the spectacular ‘Avenue of the Volcanoes’. We also discover the captivating world of the Galapagos archipelago as we search for rare species of wildlife.

Day 1 Fly to Quito. Day 2 Quito Discover the colonial capital with its splendid churches and cobbled plazas. Day 3 Avenue of the Volcanoes Travel to Patate, stopping to explore Cotopaxi Volcano. Day 4 Baños Explore the town of Baños. Visit Pailon del Diablo Falls and Latacunga market. Continue to Machachi. Days 5/6 Otavalo Market Enjoy the bustling market, shop for locally-made goods and visit nearby villages – famous for their handicrafts. Day 7 Equator Line Return to Quito. Visit the Equator line. Day 8 Galapagos Islands Explore Santa Cruz Island. Travel through the highlands to Puerto Ayora and search for the Giant Tortoise. Days 9/10 Isabela Island Sail to the largest island of the Galapagos – formed of five volcanoes. Take a walk up the Sierra Negra volcano and admire spectacular panoramas across the island. Day 11 Tortoise Breeding Centre Optional trip to the Tintoreras Islands and visit to the Tortoise Breeding Centre. Return to Puerto Ayora. Day 12 Plaza Island Explore the National Park at Las Plazas Island – home to land iguanas, marine lizards and sea lions. Enjoy swimming or snorkelling in the clear waters. Day 13 Tortuga Bay Visit the turtle nesting ground and the Charles Darwin Research Station. Day 14 Guayaquil Return to the mainland. Optional city tour. Days 15/16 Overnight flight to the UK.
