Combine a safari through South Africa and Swaziland with an exciting journey along the ‘Garden Route’ of the Western Cape. We visit Zulu battlefields, search for wildlife in the renowned Kruger National Park and take a walking safari through Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary. Travelling to Africa’s southernmost region we walk on the beautiful ‘Garden Route’ coastline, explore great wine estates and climb Table Mountain.
ITINERARY
Days 1/2 Overnight flight to Johannesburg. Drive to Drakensburg. Day 3 Drakensburg Walk through Tugela Gorge. Day 4 Zulu battlefields Take a guided tour of Isandlwana, the site of the Anglo-Zulu War. Day 5 Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Track black and white rhinos and search for the ‘Big Five’ on a game drive. Day 6 Greater St Lucia Explore the wetland park. Optional visit to sand dunes at Cape Vidal, night game drive, turtle tour (November to March) and whale watching (June to November). Days 7/8 Kingdom of Swaziland Cross the border. At Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary take a walking safari in search of zebras, giraffes and wildebeest. Days 9/10 Kruger National Park Enjoy a series of game drives to see the ‘Big Five’. Day 11/12 Peninsula Fly to Cape Town. Explore the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point. Visit the Boulder’s Beach penguin colony. Day 13 Table Mountain Hike or take a cable-car to the summit. Travel into the heart of the winelands. Day 14 Stellenbosch Explore Africa’s ‘Wine Capital’ or take a self-guided walk. Days 15/16 Cango Caves Tour the limestone Cango Caves and visit an ostrich farm. Days 17/18 Knysna Travel
