Travel with us to one of Tanzania’s least-visited destinations: Selous Game Reserve. We camp on the banks of the Rufiji River as we take game drives, walking safaris and boat trips to view wildlife including herds of elephants and buffalos. We then travel to the Indian Ocean island of Zanzibar to discover its rich spice history and relax on the white beaches.
ITINERARY
Days 1/2 Overnight flight to Dar es Salaam. Days 3/6 Selous Game Reserve Spend four nights in a tented camp on the banks of the Rufiji River and watch the sun set as birds feed at the water’s edge. Take a full-day game drive to see elephants, lions, buffalo herds and wild dogs; explore the river in a boat, passing submerged schools of hippos and basking crocodiles; take a walking safari following animal tracks through the bush. Days 7/8 Old Stone Town Fly to Zanzibar. Explore the old quarters of Stone Town. Roam through the narrow streets and colourful markets, discovering mosques and towering minarets. Optional Spice Tour which includes a visit to a spice plantation, Livingstone’s former house and the Sultan’s Palace. Days 9/10 Tropical beaches Travel to the north coast. Swim or snorkel in the crystal waters, relax on the beach or take a sunset cruise on a traditional ‘dhow’ boat. Days 11/12 Fly to the UK.

Days 4/6 Ruaha National Park Spend three nights at the lodge near the Great Ruaha River – an ideal location to watch wildlife drinking at the waters edge.
