Day 1 Fly to Istanbul. Day 2 Istanbul Enjoy a guided city tour. Visit Sultanahmet Square and the Blue Mosque. Fly to Trabzon. Days 3/5 Trabzon to Mount Ararat Take a walking tour of this sea port. Travel inland to explore the ‘hanging’ Sumela Monastery. Visit Erzurum and explore the major monuments including ‘The Three Tombs’ and the Twin Minaret Medrese. Travel to Kars and explore the wonderful Ani churches. Days 6/7 Isak Pasha Palace and Lake Van Drive to Isak Pasha Palace; a fusion of Seljuk, Ottoman, Persian, Georgian and Armenian architectural styles. Enjoy the scenic drive to Van with views of Mount Ararat – the legendary resting place of Noah’s Ark. Take a boat trip across Lake Van to Akdamar Island and visit the 10th century Armenian ‘Church of the Holy Cross’. Days 8/9 Mardin Travel to the beautiful city of Mardin, famous for its Arab-style stone architecture in the old town. Visit the ruins at Hasankeyf and the Saffron Monastery. Days 10/11 Urfa Visit the prehistoric site of worship at Gobekli Tepe. Travel to Urfa and enjoy a city tour of the old town. Explore the lively markets and visit the ‘beehive houses’ of Harran. Days 12/13 Mount Nemrut Travel to Nemrut Dagi (2500m) and walk to the summit at sunset. Explore the area on foot. Day 14 Gaziantep Sample some of the delicious local cuisine and enjoy a free afternoon to explore the Gaziantep markets. There is the option to visit the museum and the 6th century castle that overlooks the town. Day 15 Fly via Istanbul to the UK.
