On this trip we walk amongst the foothills of the majestic High Atlas mountains and enjoy some time in the ancient city of Marrakech. In the mountains we stay at a traditional Berber ‘riad’ and spend four days walking through the surrounding valleys, dotted with fruit orchards, patchwork fields and tiny mountain villages.
ITINERARY
Day 1 Fly to Marrakech. Day 2 Marrakech A walking tour of the historic sites and souks of North Africa’s most vibrant city. Day 3 Imlil Drive to the riad that acts as a base for the next four days. The walks can be adjusted to suit the interests of the group. Explore the local villages. Day 4 Mizane Valley Walk to the village of Sidi Chamarouch and see the holy shrine that sits beside a small waterfall. Day 5 Tizi Mzik Walk up to the Tizi Mzik pass (2489m) through mountain villages. Day 6 Ikkis Walk along an old mine road through meadows of lupins and conifers to the Tizi-n-Tamaterte pass (2279m). Stop at the hamlet of Ikkis for lunch. Walk a different route back to Imlil. Day 7 Marrakech Return to the city and enjoy an evening visit to the Djemma El Fna square to see the jugglers, acrobats and snake charmers. Day 8 Fly to the UK.

TOUBKAL LONG WEEKEND MOROCCO’S MIGHTIEST MOUNTAIN

On this short trip we focus on climbing to the summit of North Africa’s highest peak, Jebel Toubkal (4165 metres). We travel from the ancient walled city of Marrakech to the High Atlas mountains, enjoying traditional Berber hospitality as we make our ascent. From the peak we have panoramic views across the entire Atlas chain.

ITINERARY
Day 1 Fly to Marrakech. Day 2 Jebel Toubkal Trek Drive to Imlil, trek to the Berber village of Aremd (1950m). Trek along the Mizane Valley to the shrine at Sidi Chamarouch and on to the camp at 3206m. Day 3 Jebel Toubkal Trek Start the climb to the summit of Jebel Toubkal in the early hours aiming to arrive just after sunrise. Enjoy breathtaking views across the entire Atlas chain before trekking back to Aremd. Spend the night in a village house. Day 4 Marrakech Walk to Imlil and drive to Marrakech. Explore the historic sites, souks and maze of alleyways on a tour of the city. Spend an evening in the Djemma El Fna square. Day 5 Fly to the UK.
