Day 1 Fly to Riga (Latvia). Day 2 Riga Explore the capital city and the medieval Old Town. Board the overnight train to Moscow. Days 3/4 Moscow Tour the city including a visit to the Red Square and St. Basil’s Cathederal. Explore the red-walled Kremlin with its incredible complex of palaces, cathedrals and churches. Days 5/7 Golden Ring Explore the famous cities of Sergiev Posad, Vladimir and Suzdal that form the ‘Golden Ring’. Visit the Monastery of the Transfiguration in Yaroslavl. Take the overnight train to St Petersburg. Days 8/10 St Petersburg Tour the city including the Hermitage Museum of Art and visit the Great Palace of Catherine in Pushkin. Day 11 Fly to the UK.

Day 1 Fly to Moscow. Days 2/3 Moscow Explore the cavernous Kremlin, see the Red Square and climb the Lenin Hills for views of the city. Days 4/6 Ekaterinburg Cross the Urals to Ekaterinburg and walk in the Taiga Forest. Visit a Russian Orthodox pilgrimage centre. Days 7/8 Trans-Siberian Railway We spend two nights aboard the train watching the Siberian landscape of Silver Birch forests, rolling steppe and salt lakes pass by. Days 9/11 Lake Baikal Stay with local families in wooden houses on the shores of the world’s deepest lake. Enjoy walks in the majestic surroundings and take a boat trip. Days 12/15 Mongolia Travel to the capital, Ulaan Baatar and visit the Buddhist monastery of Ganden. Enjoy walks and stay in gers (traditional nomadic felt tent) at Arburd Sands on the northern fringes of the Gobi Desert. Days 16/19 Beijing Explore China’s mighty capital. Visit the famous Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City. Travel to Mutianyu to walk on one of the most impressive sections of the Great Wall. Day 20 Fly to the UK.
